5.1.4.Deviant semantics
quickinfo

This section discusses a number of special semantic readings of noun phrases with a definite or indefinite (null) article. We will not try to relate these special cases to any of the semantic core interpretations of the articles discussed in Section 5.1.1. Section 5.1.4.1 starts with a number of cases in which the verb and the noun phrase form some sort of complex verbal predicate. Section 5.1.4.2 continues with the use of articles in evaluative contexts, such as the use of een in exclamative constructions, and Section 5.1.4.3 discusses the use of articles with certain measure phrases. Section 5.1.4.4 concludes with a discussion of the use of the definite article in inalienable possession constructions.
