-guod
quickinfo

In some cases, the suffix -guod takes a phrase as base. These particularly consist of binomial expressions, like leppel-en-foarkeguod [spoon and fork]-SUFF spoons and forks or pot-en-panguod [pot and pan]-SUFF pots and pans. Also combinations of adjective and noun may be qualified, for example opslûpen jongesguod [lanky boys]-SUFF lanky boys. The suffix derives nouns with a collective meaning. It developed from the noun guod stuff, and can thus be classified as a suffixoid.

The suffix may also take adjectival and verbal bases, but in most cases, the base is a noun. See the topic on -guod with a noun as base for more information.
