Characteristics of the NP
quickinfo

The noun phrase (NP) is an important structure in the syntax of Afrikaans. NPs can be simple, consisting of only a noun or pronoun, or it can be quite complex with a number of components such as determiners, quantifiers, adjectives, and postmodifiers. In terms of meaning, the primary function of NPs is reference to all kinds of things, although it can also be used descriptively and in the vocative. Nouns within NPs can be both morphologically simplex and complex.
