In an appositive construction, the predication is not integrated in the syntactic structure, as signalled by the comma intonation. The predicate is an optional addition to its argument, which is integrated in the syntactic structure. The predicate is not integrated in the outer structure.

If an adjective can be construed with the verb weze ‘be’, it can also be used appositively. Put differently, an apposition is interpreted semantically as a predication that is equivalent to one mediated by the verb to be. An appositive is more characteristic of written language than of spoken language.
