1.2 Postpositions

A postposition is an adposition which follows its complement, or which fails to have a complement. An example is given below:

Dän hele Sumer truch
the whole summer through
Throughout the whole summer.

Where prepositions are two-place predicates, postpositions can be analysed as one-place predicates or zero-place predicates. In case a postposition takes an argument, it may be realised as a NP or as a PP, observationally speaking.
