The combination of an article and a noun may have a fixed, possibly idiosyncratic, meaning when combined with a light verb, that is, a verb with a meaning that is not very specific.

A case in point is in boek lêze read a book. In case the speaker does not yet know which book, the expression is synonymous with the verb lêze read in its intransitive use. On this activity reading, the noun may also be incorporated into the verb, as in the following example:
