Clause pairs of effect and cause
quickinfo

The clause expressing the clause of cause following a clause of effect may be realised syntactically as a Verb-Second clause following the complementiser om't because, as in the following example:

1
Oars hâld ik my leaver stil, om't myn foet stiet ûnder allemans tafel
other keep I me preferredly quiet because my foot stands below everyone's table
Otherwise I prefer to keep quiet, for my foot is below everyone's table

The complementiser can also be left out. In that case the relation of cause and effect is implicit, with the second clause being interpreted as the cause:

2
Oars hâld ik my leaver stil, myn foet stiet ûnder allemans tafel
other keep I me preferredly quiet my foot stands below everyone's table
Otherwise I prefer to keep quiet, my foot is below everyone's table

Another example is provided below of a V2 clause of cause following the complementiser om't because:

3
Dat is it doel fan ús bodzjen en striden, om't wy hawwe ús hope set op de libbene God
that is the aim of our work and labour for we have our hope set on the living God
That is the purpose of our work and labour, for we have set our hopes on the living God

It is unclear in this example if there is still a semantic cause and effect relation between the two clauses in case the complementiser is left out.
