The comparative, like the superlative, can be formed in two ways, that is, by attaching a suffix to the adjective or by putting a word in front of it: it can be formed morphologically, by the addition of the morpheme -er, as in yntelligent-er more intelligent and it can be formed periphrastically, by the addition of the word mear more as in mear yntelligent more intelligent.
