Quantificational modifiers

Quantificational modifiers include words referring to the discourse context like allinnich only and krekt precisely. Also included is the adverb wer again, which refers to a repetition or reversal of movement of some sort. They may be found both before and after complements to Postpositional Phrases.

These qualificational modifiers are not specifically restricted to Adposition Phrases (PPs), but are found with other categories as well. Like other modifiers, their canonical position is preceding the PP, as illustrated below.

a. Allinnich by de terp op gie noch wol

Only up the mountain was not a problem yet
b. Krekt by de terp op gie noch wol
precisely at the mound up went DcP DcP
It was precisely up the mound which was not yet a problem

They may not occur in between postpositions and their complements, as shown in the example below.

b. *By de terp krekt op gie noch wol
at the mound precisely up went DcP DcP
It was precisely up the mountain which was not yet a problem

The adverb wer again, however, is like Noun Phrase (NP) modifiers in that it may be found either preceding or following the complement of a postposition, as shown below:
