2 Complementation of PPs

Four types of adpositions are distinguished, depending on the position, presence and category of the complement.
- Adpositions taking a complement on the right: prepositions
- Adpositions taking a complement on the left: postpositions
- Adpositions occurring in tandem, one preceding and one following the complement: circumpositions
- Adpositions occurring without complement: bare (intransitive) adpositions.
Two examples of PPs are given below:
