Word-final rhymes of four and five positions
quickinfo

Frisian allows for quite long word-final consonant sequences, which translate into rhymes of four and five positions. These are at odds with the Word Constraint, according to which the rhyme of a word-final syllable occupies three structural phonological positions at most. It will be concluded, however, that no more than a handful of exceptions to this constraint have to be allowed for.
